C.P.S. Pescara Talents Photo Contest: photography, students and culture

On Friday 22 March 2019, a photography workshop was held in the “G. Favetta” hall of the Museo delle Genti d’Abruzzo in Pescara, led by Nicola Vincenzo Rinaldi, winner of the Sony World Photography Awards 2019 for Italy.

The Bologna-based photographer received the award for the image “The Hug”, selected as the best single photograph in its category and scheduled to be exhibited at the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition in London from 18 April to 6 May, before continuing on an international travelling exhibition.

The Pescara initiative, entitled “C.P.S. Pescara Talents Photo Contest”, was organised by Maristella Fortunato, head of the Pescara School Office, assisted by Dr Rossella Mosca, together with the Consulta Provinciale degli Studenti, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pescara and History Life Onlus.

The contest involved five students from each class of schools in the province of Pescara. During the morning, the young photographers visited some of the city’s most representative locations to take original photographs based on categories established in advance.

In the first evaluation phase, the photographs were examined by a jury composed of selected photographers, members of the C.P.S. and the President of History Life Onlus.

The second phase consisted of collecting votes from users on Instagram. The photographs competing for the final result were visible through the hashtag #cpsPEphcontest and could be voted for with a “like”. The combined results of the two phases would determine the three winning images.

The final awards ceremony was scheduled for the end of April, when the contest was due to officially conclude.

❤️ A donation to History Life

At the end of the day, photographer Nicola Vincenzo Rinaldi made a generous donation to History Life Onlus: two photographic prints depicting Rocca Calascio.

The two prints were intended to be auctioned to raise funds for charitable purposes.

Venerdì 22 marzo 2019, presso la sala “G. Favetta” del Museo delle Genti d’Abruzzo di Pescara, si è svolto un workshop fotografico condotto da Nicola Vincenzo Rinaldi, vincitore del Sony World Photography Awards 2019 per l’Italia.

Il fotografo bolognese ha ottenuto il riconoscimento grazie all’immagine “The Hug”, scelta come miglior scatto singolo della propria categoria e destinata a essere esposta alla mostra dei Sony World Photography Awards di Londra dal 18 aprile al 6 maggio, per poi proseguire in un percorso itinerante internazionale.

L’iniziativa pescarese, denominata “C.P.S. Pescara Talents Photo Contest”, è stata organizzata dalla dirigente dell’Ufficio scolastico di Pescara Maristella Fortunato, assistita dalla dott.ssa Rossella Mosca, insieme alla Consulta Provinciale degli Studenti, in collaborazione con il Comune di Pescara e History Life Onlus.

Il contest ha visto la partecipazione di cinque studenti per ogni classe degli istituti scolastici della provincia di Pescara. Durante la mattinata, i giovani fotografi si sono recati nei luoghi più rappresentativi della città per realizzare scatti originali basati su categorie definite in precedenza.

Nella prima fase di valutazione, gli elaborati sono stati esaminati da una giuria composta da fotografi selezionati, membri della C.P.S. e dal Presidente di History Life Onlus.

La seconda fase prevedeva invece la raccolta delle preferenze degli utenti su Instagram. Le fotografie candidate al risultato finale erano visibili attraverso l’hashtag #cpsPEphcontest e potevano essere votate con un “like”. I risultati complessivi delle due fasi avrebbero determinato le tre immagini vincitrici.

La cerimonia finale di premiazione era prevista per la fine di aprile, in occasione della conclusione ufficiale del contest.

❤️ Una donazione a History Life

Al termine della giornata, il fotografo Nicola Vincenzo Rinaldi ha effettuato una generosa donazione a History Life Onlus: due stampe fotografiche raffiguranti Rocca Calascio.

Le due stampe erano destinate a essere messe all’asta per raccogliere fondi da destinare in beneficenza.
