Nel febbraio del 2015, nella splendida cornice di Matera, si sono svolte le riprese del colossal americano “Ben Hur”, remake del celebre film del 1959. Non tutti sanno che molte scene furono girate proprio tra i suggestivi Sassi della città lucana, scelta per il suo fascino millenario e per la straordinaria atmosfera cinematografica.

Il film, diretto da Timur Bekmambetov e prodotto da Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer e Paramount Pictures, ha visto protagonisti attori di fama internazionale come Morgan Freeman, Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell e Rodrigo Santoro.

Noi di History Life eravamo presenti durante la fase di allestimento del set e oggi, a distanza di due anni, desideriamo condividere con voi alcune immagini esclusive scattate in quei giorni, che raccontano la magia e la potenza del cinema dietro le quinte. In February 2015, the breathtaking city of Matera became the set for the American blockbuster remake of “Ben Hur”, a modern tribute to the legendary 1959 classic. Few are aware that many of the film’s scenes were shot among the ancient stone dwellings of the Sassi, chosen for their timeless beauty and dramatic setting.

Directed by Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Paramount Pictures, the film featured a stellar international cast including Morgan Freeman, Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, and Rodrigo Santoro.
