Tra le produzioni Disney più riuscite degli ultimi anni, merita senza dubbio una menzione speciale il film “Saving Mr. Banks”.

Ispirato a una storia vera, il film racconta il lungo e travagliato percorso attraverso cui Walt Disney riuscì finalmente a ottenere i diritti del celebre romanzo Mary Poppins dall’autrice Pamela Lyndon Travers, dopo ben vent’anni di tentativi, lettere e incontri. Pur prendendosi qualche libertà narrativa, la pellicola restituisce con grande sensibilità l’intensità emotiva e le difficoltà che hanno preceduto la nascita di uno dei classici più amati della storia del cinema.

Il cast è di altissimo livello: Tom Hanks interpreta un convincente e umano Walt Disney, mentre Emma Thompson regala una performance magistrale nei panni della complessa e intransigente P.L. Travers. La sceneggiatura, equilibrata e ben costruita, alterna con maestria momenti ironici e drammatici, tenendo alta l’attenzione dello spettatore dall’inizio alla fine.

Una delle scene più toccanti è sicuramente quella in cui la Travers assiste alla prima proiezione di Mary Poppins, lasciandosi travolgere dai ricordi della sua infanzia e dai traumi familiari che avevano segnato la sua esistenza. È un momento di profonda catarsi che eleva il film, trasformandolo in qualcosa di più di un semplice “dietro le quinte”.

Un’opera intensa, emozionante e assolutamente da non perdere, soprattutto per chi ama il cinema, la letteratura e le grandi storie vere.
